{Lust List} Be Nice In Spring

I’ve not worn a maxi skirt since forevers, but I’m suddenly drawn to them like a moth to the flame. Blame it on the flowy colorful layers or how versatile they can be. I’m definitely daydreaming about wandering farmers markets in this cute outfit smelling flowers!

It all started with those tiny brass evil eye studs. I started wanting more. They’re so creepy and cute. I didn’t know those could even be a description for something together! I had been dreaming up a pillow version for years now, so maybe a tutorial is in the future! We came back from Cabo San Lucas last week and those blue and white ceramic eyes by Leah Goren remind me of all the pretty pottery they have there. I just can’t get enough of little eyes staring back at me.

What about you? Are you a fan of eyes and eye print?

I will also have a spot in my heart for a break in color and going back to the basics of black and white. You may remember this recent B&W Polka Dot post. Today I’m going more modern graphic with a black and white grid pattern. I love both the square graph paper version and the painterly version like in that cute tea towel.

PS: If you like grids and lists, you’d love this freebie printable! Stay tuned for a fun tutorial with B&W grid soon!

{Guest Post} Practical Fashion Staples For Autumn

Even though we’re in the heat of summer, I’m starting to get really excited about the approaching Autumn and along with that, warmer clothes! Here’s some great advice from a guest blogger:

It is not often that the words practical and fashion are used in the same sentence, but occasionally just such an item makes a comeback. A returning trend for autumn is the Chelsea boot. Both functional and stylish, they are great for keeping out the autumn and winter chill as well as keeping your feet comfortable and dry. These boots fit closely around the ankle due to the elastic sides so they look great whatever your leg and ankle shape. They even look great on slimmer legs as, thanks to the elastic patches, there are no unsightly large gaps around the top which can sometimes make other boots look like wellingtons.

Practical work wear

These versatile boots will go with many different outfits from short skirts to maxi dresses, trousers, leggings and all cuts and styles of jeans. There are plenty of styles and variations to choose from, from the vintage styles which are a simple flat boot, perhaps with a loop at the back to help pull them on. Other classic designs include those with a strap and buckle across the front of the foot. These styles are bought up to date in stylish brown or beige suede or shiny black leather. These make very practical work wear teamed with smart trousers or jeans.

Casual and glamorous

For those looking for something a little more feminine and glamorous, heeled Chelsea boots come in a variety of heights and shape, from chunky square heels which give your legs a straight look, to heels which are narrow or taper in a V shape to give your feet a narrower appearance. These leather Chelsea boot styles for Autumn are available in a wide variety of colour and texture so that you can dress your look up or down for the occasion.

No matter what you are wearing, shoes or boots with heels can really change the appearance of your outfit as well as making your legs look longer, they give your body a taller more elongated appearance.

Simple black or beige heeled Chelsea boots look great for the office with trousers or a smart skirt and will see you easily through the evening. For a more rock and roll look, wear them with colourful feminine skirts or a maxi dress. For a more casual relaxed look, team Chelsea boots with leggings and layered tops in your favourite colours and prints.

If you are looking for something a little more modern and different, other great takes on these classic boots include stud embellishments, Cuban heels and this season’s most up to date colours in both leather and suede.

If you are looking for practical boots which will go happily with this seasons autumn fashion then these are ideal and a must have addition to your wardrobe which will easily see you through to spring.

Did you hear that they’re making custom Nikes based on your instagram photos now (via Apartment Therapy)?

I’m not sure if you know, but I’m really into 3D cameras. I collect vintage ones and always have a Viewmaster Camera loaded and ready. But this DIY 3D camera with disposable cameras (via Giver’s Log) is definitely more economical and crafty!

{Lust List} An Italian Summer

BKLYN Larder Gelato ($110/4) | Born Landis Wedges ($145) | Handmade Bocce Ball Set ($320)

My mom and I always imagined a trip through Italy. Sightseeing and tasting deliciousness along the way. The thought of playing outside with colorful Bocce balls brought these ideas all back to me. What better way to pretend being there this summer than with some housemade gelato and Italian leather sandals.

Have you been to Italy?
